Welcome to the March newsletter! We have had good news with the EU rejecting a call by activists to ban kangaroo meat imports. Misinformation however has fueled four US States to consider legislation prohibiting the sale of kangaroo products and we are watching these developments closely. The industry doesn’t doubt the move is coming from concern about animal welfare, but unfortunately Americans have been the victims of an animal activist misinformation campaign, which is claiming two million kangaroos are killed for leather. There has been a significant positive response from scientists, the media and the public with a great deal of commentary focused on the benefits of the industry.
