Peru Roo Opportunities

The kangaroo industry is excited about opportunities to sell Australian kangaroo meat into Peru as a result of negotiations under way to develop a trade deal with Peru.

Federal Trade Minister Steven Ciobo announced new trade talks which commenced in Canberra on 25th May.  Peru’s Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros, visited Australia to advance the Peru-Australia Free Trade Agreement (PAFTA).

Kangaroo Industry Association of Australia President Ray Borda said commencement of the negotiations with Peru represented an “exciting opportunity” for kangaroo meat exports.

“It’s fantastic, not only are they big meat eaters in Peru but all throughout South America and they love the taste of kangaroo,” he said.

“If negotiations go well this will be a huge step towards opening up the rest of South America and towards demonstrating how great this product is to the rest of the world.”
